About Maponya VG
Our father Sekgoshi Ntlhogwana Maponya through his early years was very active in the struggle for the liberation of the country. He went through political detentions without trial and also served years of political prison sentences.
As an entrepreneur, he was the organizer of the Mabopane-Winterveldt branch of NAFCOC. Here the objective was to battle for the economic emancipation of the Black Business.
Some of his businesses included Maponya Ladies & Gents Outfitters, a clothing mechandry. Maponya Coal & Wood Agency. He also had several taxis.
In 1986 Mr. S.N Maponya established Maponya Super Tours, a bus transportation company which provided service for long distance trips. Super Tours also catered for learners in and around Pretoria. It was then the only company that owned Semi-luxury coaches. It also had several contracts with hotels, mining companies, government departments such as Rand Water, Education, Health, Sports & Recreation to name but a few.
Sekgoshi N. Maponya also ventured into property development, trading as Londa-Londa Homes. He built houses of a high standard, targeting public servants and other clients who qualified for the state subsidy.
